Review: Pennonia Inks - Part Two

I really hope that you like ink.

That's because I have (drum roll) twelve more for you!

If you read my last Pennonia review, you will know that I was almost disappointed by the inks at first, as they are very pale when wet. Luckily they darkened while drying so I did end up with readable, and very pretty, colours.

However, the next twelve are bright and vivid through and through, even when wet!

First we have Csillánt, a dark green with the characteristic shading that I now associate with Pennonia.

Dungó is an orange-yellow which seems more yellow in the swatches, but is definitely orange in writing.

Hupikék is a bright sky blue that exhibits great shading ranging from a pale blue to a much darker shade.

Kékfestő is that wonderful thing, a dark blue ink with a bright red sheen that makes it a real eye-catcher. I'm not going to keep repeating the fact that they shade - they all have brilliant shading and that's that!

Lila Ármyék is yet another blue, a dark one with the slightest hint of purple, and a slight red/bronze sheen.

Meggyes is definitely some kind of red... but I'm not sure which. In a swatch, it is a lovely garnet red. However, if you load it into a pen and write, the ink will dry to a much darker colour with almost black edges. If you use a drier nib then you're likely to get a lighter colour, but a wet nib will produce a very dark, intense shade!

Méregzöld is another sheening ink, turquoise with red sheen that inexplicably didn't show up in the swatches but came through quite well in my writing.

Ördögi Vörös is a true red, quite a festive colour! It's bright and stays that way in writing too.

Once again, the inks have a wet consistency, but not so wet that it causes problems. It behaved well on Tomoe River, no feathering or bleeding, just the showthrough that you always get on such thin paper. It's an ink that's a joy to use due to its amazing shading characteristics and the occasional pop of sheen!
